《for the win》是《音乐之声》的插曲。《音乐之声》讲述了22岁的玛丽亚是一个萨尔茨堡修道院长大的修女。但是，她活泼好动和热爱自然的性格却总是让她在修道院里惹麻烦。
玛丽亚到达冯・特拉普家，发现他是一个有七个孩子的鳏夫。长期的海军生活和对亡妻的悲伤使他对待孩子像管教士兵一样严格。很快，玛丽亚就明白了以前那些看护离开的原因，原来是孩子们得不到父亲的关爱，总是用捉弄看护来吸引父亲的注意。
然而好景不长，正当玛丽亚和上校在度蜜月的时候，二战爆发，不久，德国吞并了奥地利，此时麦斯偷偷地带着孩子们参加了音乐节的选拔并通过。
最后，在麦斯以及修女们的帮助下，上校一家人一起翻上阿尔卑斯山逃出生天。

20世纪90年代，她的喉咙便出现异样，直到1997年开刀割除肿瘤后，朱莉·安德鲁斯暂时告别了演唱事业。不成功的肿瘤切除手术导致她的声带损坏。
